Cloudflare for Startups: Up to $350,000 in Cloudflare Credits
$10,000 / $100,000 / $350,000 in credits by tier
Cloudflare for Startups offers three credit tiers: $10k for bootstrapped or self-funded startups that raised under $1M, $100k for startups that raised under $5M from an affiliated partner, and $350k for startups that raised $5M or more from an affiliated partner. Credits cover usage-based developer products such as Workers, Workers AI, R2 and D1, with product caps for R2 and Workers AI. Core security and network features (three Enterprise domains, DDoS, WAF, CDN and DNS) are free at every tier. Credits last one year or until used, with no extensions.

Catches & caveats
Cloudflare's startup page gives two different Workers AI caps: up to $50,000 in the product list, and $2,500, $10,000 or $50,000 by tier in the FAQ. It also lists a '100% SLA' among free features, while its terms say the Startup Plan doesn't include an SLA. The official criteria include 'funded within the last 12 months, up to Series B' alongside a tier for bootstrapped startups, and the page doesn't explain how these fit together.
Cloudflare for Startups gives eligible startups $10,000, $100,000 or $350,000 in credits for one year, depending on how much they've raised and who funded them. The credits pay for Cloudflare's usage-based developer products, including Workers, Workers AI, R2 storage, D1 and Durable Objects. On top of that, every tier gets free Enterprise-level security and networking for up to three domains. Credits expire after a year or when they run out, and Cloudflare doesn't grant extensions.
This guide covers the tiers, what the credits can and can't be spent on, eligibility edge cases, the application process, what happens at graduation, and how the offer compares with other programs. Everything was checked against Cloudflare's official pages on October 17, 2026.
The three tiers
| Tier | Credits | Who it's for | Support included |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tier 3 | $10,000 | Bootstrapped or self-funded, under $1M raised | Community and events, developer docs and Discord |
| Tier 2 | $100,000 | Under $5M raised, funded by an affiliated partner | Account manager (case by case), technical sessions with Cloudflare experts, community and events |
| Tier 1 | $350,000 | $5M or more raised, funded by an affiliated partner | Account manager, priority technical support, bi-weekly Solutions Architect office hours, community and events |
All tiers get priority ticket support and chat. Tiers 1 and 2 depend on being funded by an "affiliated partner", but Cloudflare doesn't publish a list of those partners on the startup page. If you've raised from a VC or accelerator, ask them whether they're affiliated with Cloudflare's program before you apply.
What the credits pay for
| Category | Products covered | Cap |
|---|---|---|
| Compute | Workers, Workers for Platforms, Durable Objects, Workflows | No separate cap listed |
| AI | Workers AI | $2,500 / $10,000 / $50,000 by tier (FAQ) |
| Storage and data | Workers KV, D1, Queues, Vectorize, R2 | R2 up to $10,000 |
| Delivery | Pages, Images, Stream, Cache Reserve, Argo Smart Routing | No separate cap listed |
Free at every tier (not paid from credits)
- Three Enterprise domains, plus unlimited Business and Pro plans
- DDoS and bot protection, WAF with 1,000 custom rules, Security Analytics, SSL certificates and Page Shield
- CDN and DNS, Load Balancing (two origins) and Rate Limiting (one rule)
Not covered
- AI Gateway, which Cloudflare says is temporarily not covered
- Registrar fees: domain registration and renewal
- Enterprise add-ons, excluded by default. You can request some by email (Advanced Certificate Manager, SSL for SaaS, Advanced Rate Limiting, extra Load Balancing origins) and others by support ticket (Bot Management, API Shield, Apex Proxying, extra Zero Trust seats)
- Premium network services: Magic Transit, Enterprise Spectrum, Dedicated IPs and China Network
Credits don't cover everything on your bill. If you use AI Gateway, buy domains through Cloudflare Registrar or turn on an excluded add-on, those charges go to your payment method even while you still have credits.
What the credits are worth in real usage
Cloudflare's developer products are inexpensive per unit, so even the $10,000 tier goes a long way. These examples use Cloudflare's published list prices:
- Workers: the Workers Paid plan costs $5 a month per account and includes 10 million requests and 30 million CPU milliseconds. Extra requests cost $0.30 per million and extra CPU time $0.02 per million CPU milliseconds. Bandwidth and duration aren't charged.
- Workers AI: everyone gets 10,000 Neurons a day free. Above that, it's $0.011 per 1,000 Neurons. A $10,000 Workers AI cap therefore buys about 909 million Neurons ($10,000 / $0.011 x 1,000) beyond the free daily allowance.
- R2: standard storage costs $0.015 per GB-month, Class A operations $4.50 per million and Class B operations $0.36 per million, and egress is free. At $0.015 per GB-month, the $10,000 R2 cap would cover about 667,000 GB-months of storage if you spent it all on storage.
For a smaller project, Cloudflare's free tiers may be enough before you apply. See the Workers AI free tier for the daily Neuron allowance.
Who qualifies
Cloudflare says all of these must apply:
- Incorporated within the last 10 years
- Funded up to Series B, with funding received in the last 12 months
- Actively building a technology product
- A live, publicly verifiable website
- An active presence on LinkedIn, X or GitHub
- First time applying to the program
- For-profit, with a business email that matches your company domain (no personal email)
Edge cases
- Never raised money: Tier 3 is described as for bootstrapped or self-funded startups, but the general criteria mention funding in the last 12 months. Cloudflare doesn't explain how the two fit together. If you're fully bootstrapped, apply and describe your funding honestly. Rejections include a reason, and you can ask for a re-evaluation with more information.
- Existing Enterprise customers: can't use the Startup Plan.
- Already in the program: it's one-time per startup. Legacy members who joined at the old $5k or $250k levels can ask for an upgrade evaluation.
- Not a good fit: educational institutions, personal blogs, consultancies, service agencies, MSPs and resellers. Government and civic projects are pointed to Cloudflare's Athenian Project (election websites) or Project Galileo instead.
- Running several startups: each separate startup can apply with its own account ID and email.
How to apply, step by step
- Create a Cloudflare account with your business email (it must match your company domain) and note your account ID.
- Add a valid payment method. Cloudflare requires one, and bills overages and post-expiry usage to it.
- Open the Cloudflare for Startups page and select Apply here.
- Fill in company, funding and product details, including your website and LinkedIn, X or GitHub presence.
- Wait for review. Cloudflare says it typically takes up to 48 hours, and approval comes by email to the application address.
- If you don't hear back within a week, check spam and then email startups@cloudflare.com.
If you later raise enough to move up a tier, email startups@cloudflare.com with your account ID. Cloudflare decides upgrades case by case, and an upgrade doesn't extend your original expiry date.
Expiry and graduation
Credits last one year or until they're used up, whichever comes first. Before the end, Cloudflare emails the application contact three reminders. At graduation you can move to a self-serve plan, let any Enterprise domains you don't move revert to the Free plan, or contact the team beforehand if you want to stay on Enterprise. After expiry, the card on file is charged for usage unless you have a prepaid contract. Credits are non-transferable, non-refundable and can't be redeemed for cash, and you're responsible for any applicable taxes. Cloudflare's terms also allow it to use your company name and logo in its marketing.
How it compares
| Program | Headline amount | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare for Startups | $10K / $100K / $350K | Edge apps, AI inference on Workers AI, storage without egress fees |
| Google for Startups Cloud Program | Up to $350K for AI-first Scale-tier startups | Full cloud plus Google's AI models |
| AWS Activate | Up to $5K (Founders) or $200K (Portfolio) | Full AWS cloud |
| Microsoft for Startups | Up to $150K through milestones | Azure and Microsoft Foundry models |
| Databricks for Startups | Up to $200K | Data platform and Postgres |
Cloudflare's offer is unusual in two ways: the bootstrapped tier is $10,000, more than many programs give unfunded startups, and the free security bundle has real value even if you never touch the developer credits. Its limit is scope. It covers Cloudflare's own products, not general-purpose VMs or frontier model APIs. Many startups pair it with a hyperscaler program. History and recent changes
- September 2024: Cloudflare revamped the program with up to $250,000 in credits for Developer Platform products, for startups founded in the last five years with $50,000 to $5 million in funding. Bootstrapped startups could apply with a promo code for smaller amounts.
- Since then: the program moved to the current three-tier structure. Cloudflare's page says Tier 3 rose from $5,000 to $10,000 and Tier 1 from $250,000 to $350,000, and the company age limit is now 10 years.
- September 28, 2026: Cloudflare announced The Cold Start, a live pitch competition at Cloudflare Connect in San Francisco on October 19, 2026. The winner gets $500,000 in Cloudflare credits. Entry was limited to early-stage startups in the US or Canada that had raised under $10 million, and applications closed on October 2, 2026.
Frequently asked questions
›How much are Cloudflare startup credits?
$10k (bootstrapped or self-funded, raised under $1M), $100k (raised under $5M from an affiliated partner) or $350k (raised $5M or more from an affiliated partner).
›How long do Cloudflare startup credits last?
One year or until fully used, whichever comes first. Cloudflare says it can't approve extensions at this time, and a tier upgrade doesn't extend the expiry date.
›Can bootstrapped startups get Cloudflare credits?
Yes. Tier 3 ($10k) is for bootstrapped or self-funded startups that have raised under $1M. The general criteria also mention funding within the last 12 months, so if you've never raised, explain your situation in the application.
›What can I spend the credits on?
Usage-based products: Workers, Workers for Platforms, Durable Objects, Workflows, Workers AI, Workers KV, D1, Queues, Vectorize, R2, Pages, Images, Stream, Cache Reserve and Argo Smart Routing. R2 is capped at $10,000 and Workers AI has its own cap.
›How much of the credit can go to Workers AI?
Cloudflare's FAQ lists $2,500 for Tier 3, $10,000 for Tier 2 and $50,000 for Tier 1. Another part of the page shows up to $50,000 without a tier split, so confirm your cap after approval.
›What isn't covered by the credits?
AI Gateway (temporarily), domain registration and renewal fees, enterprise add-ons unless approved, and premium network services such as Magic Transit, Enterprise Spectrum, Dedicated IPs and China Network.
›Do I need a credit card?
Yes. Cloudflare requires a valid payment method. Usage above your credits is billed automatically, and after the credits expire the card on file is charged unless you have a prepaid contract.
›What happens when the program ends?
Cloudflare sends three reminder emails before you graduate. You can move to a self-serve plan, let Enterprise domains you don't move revert to the Free plan, or contact the team beforehand to stay on Enterprise.
›Can I apply again or move credits to another account?
No. The program is a one-time opportunity per startup, and credits can't be transferred between accounts. They're also non-refundable and not redeemable for cash.
