Good to know
Cursor's pricing changed on October 12, 2026, when xAI launched The X Subscription, which bundles Grok, Cursor and X Premium. TechCrunch reports that the parent company is now called SpaceX Super Intelligence. Paid tiers share one weekly usage pool across Cursor and Grok. Former Hobby, Pro, Pro+ and Ultra plans continue for existing customers but are no longer sold, and their prices aren't listed on the official page. Annual prices come from Cursor docs. No annual Teams price is listed.
Short answer: Cursor now has five individual tiers: Free, Plus $8/month, Premium $30/month, Super $100/month and Ultra $200/month. Annual billing costs $80, $300, $1,000 and $2,000 per year. Teams seats cost $30, $100 or $200 each per month, and Enterprise is custom. The monthly price covers Cursor's own models (Grok and Composer). Claude, GPT and Gemini cost extra at API list price and require Premium or higher. Prices are as of October 17, 2026 and exclude tax.
What changed in October 2026
On October 12, 2026, xAI announced The X Subscription, a single plan that bundles Grok, Cursor and X Premium. TechCrunch reported on October 13 that the company behind it is now called SpaceX Super Intelligence. Cursor's pricing page now shows the new tiers, and it says subscriptions are sold only through X Subscription Corp. Under the new model:
- One weekly usage pool is shared across the Cursor editor, CLI, Cloud Agents, Grok Bot and the Grok apps. A heavy week in Grok chat leaves less for coding.
- The pool covers Cursor models only: Grok 4.7, Grok 4.6, Grok 4.5 and Composer 2.5. Different models use the pool at different rates.
- Third-party models (Claude, GPT, Gemini and others) are no longer included in any allowance. On Premium and above, they're billed at API list price from the first request, paid from prepaid credit.
- xAI says each new plan includes at least twice as much coding usage with its models as the comparable old Cursor plan. Premium bundles the benefits of SuperGrok, Cursor Pro and X Premium+, which xAI says previously cost $90/month combined.
- The old Hobby, Start, Pro, Pro+, Ultra and Teams Standard/Premium plans continue for existing customers, with two monthly pools (Cursor models and other models) plus on-demand usage. New buyers can't choose them.

Free
Free gives limited agent and Chat requests with Cursor's own models. It doesn't include third-party models, Cloud Agents or Bugbot. It's enough to try the editor, but not for daily work.
Plus ($8/month)
Plus is the introductory tier. You get the base usage pool, Grok Chat, Voice, Imagine and Build, Grok API access (billed separately at standard rates), and X perks such as the Premium checkmark and fewer timeline ads. The pricing page says Plus is limited to Grok models only, and the docs describe it as Cursor's own models at fixed settings. You can't use Claude or GPT on Plus at any price, and Plus isn't available as a Teams seat. Cursor recommends it for social creators with limited AI use.
Premium ($30/month)
Premium is Cursor's recommended starting point for new AI users. It gives 4x Plus usage, the latest Grok models, Cloud Agents, Automations, code hosting (Origin), AI code reviews (Bugbot), Grok Bot, faster Chat and ad-free scrolling on most X surfaces. It's the cheapest tier that unlocks third-party models, but you still pay for every Claude or GPT token separately.
Super ($100/month) and Ultra ($200/month)
Super gives 15x Plus usage and priority access at peak times. Cursor recommends it for daily agent users. Ultra gives 50x Plus usage and earliest access to new products and models, and Cursor recommends it for power users. Per dollar, Ultra gives the most included usage: 50x for $200 is 0.25x of Plus usage per dollar, versus 15x for $100 (0.15x) and 4x for $30 (about 0.13x). This only matters if you mostly use Grok and Composer, because third-party usage is billed separately on every tier.
Teams and Enterprise
Teams seats cost the same as the matching individual tier ($30, $100 or $200). You can mix seat types, and usage is pooled. Teams adds centralized billing, usage analytics, team-wide privacy settings, custom Chat data retention, SAML/OIDC SSO and a team marketplace for internal rules, skills and plugins. xAI says Teams get 3x more coding usage than older Cursor Teams plans. Enterprise adds invoice/PO billing, SCIM, granular and group-level spend limits, auto-run, browser and network controls, repository, model and MCP access controls, audit logs, service accounts and priority support. On both, third-party model requests carry the Cursor Token Rate.
How third-party model billing works
- Prepaid credit: you buy credit under 'Additional usage credits' at grok.com/dashboard/billing, either manually or with Auto Top-up when your balance drops below a threshold.
- Monthly cap: an additional-usage limit caps paid usage each month, whatever your credit balance. On Teams, admins manage one shared balance and one cap.
- List price: Cursor's models page lists Claude Sonnet 5.5 at $2 input / $2.50 cache write / $0.10 cache read / $10 output per million tokens, and Claude Opus 5.5 at $4 / $5 / $0.20 / $20, matching Anthropic's own API prices.
- Cursor Token Rate: $0.25 per million tokens on Teams and Enterprise only, for third-party models (including BYOK and Cursor Router traffic). It doesn't apply to individual plans, Cost mode or Cursor's own models.
- Other uplifts: regional data residency adds 10% to eligible models. Max Mode (API rate + 20%) exists only on legacy request-based plans.
- Cursor models beyond the pool: extra Grok and Composer usage is also paid from credit. For example, Grok 4.7 costs $2 in / $0.50 cached / $6 out, and Composer 2.5 costs $0.50 / $0.20 / $2.50 per million tokens.
Worked cost examples
These examples use official list prices. Token volumes are illustrative, so check your own usage in settings.
1. Annual vs monthly
Premium monthly costs 12 x $30 = $360 a year, versus $300 billed annually, saving $60 (two months). Plus: 12 x $8 = $96 vs $80. Super: $1,200 vs $1,000. Ultra: $2,400 vs $2,000. In each case, the annual price equals 10 months.
2. Premium user who codes with Claude Sonnet 5.5
Assume a month with 30M cached-read tokens, 3M fresh input tokens, 1M cache-write tokens and 1.5M output tokens on Sonnet 5.5. Third-party cost: (30 x $0.10) + (3 x $2) + (1 x $2.50) + (1.5 x $10) = $3.00 + $6.00 + $2.50 + $15.00 = $26.50. Add the $30 Premium fee for a total of $56.50/month. On Opus 5.5, the same usage costs (30 x $0.20) + (3 x $4) + (1 x $5) + (1.5 x $20) = $6 + $12 + $5 + $30 = $53, so $83/month in total.
3. The same developer on a Teams seat
The Sonnet usage above totals 30 + 3 + 1 + 1.5 = 35.5M tokens. If the $0.25/MTok Cursor Token Rate applies to all of them, it adds 35.5 x $0.25 = $8.88. The month costs $30 seat + $26.50 tokens + $8.88 = $65.38. Cursor doesn't say whether cached tokens count toward the rate, so treat this as an upper estimate.
4. Running past the weekly pool on Grok
If you use up your weekly pool and keep going on Grok 4.7 with 5M input and 1M output tokens, you pay (5 x $2) + (1 x $6) = $10 + $6 = $16 from credit. Doing that every week of a 4-week month adds 4 x $16 = $64, close to the $70 extra that Super ($100) costs over Premium ($30). Super also raises the pool from 4x to 15x Plus. If you top up most weeks, compare the two before buying more credit.
Which Cursor plan should you choose?
- Happy with Grok and Composer, light use: Plus ($8).
- Want Claude or GPT in the editor: Premium ($30) is the minimum. Budget your API spend separately.
- Use agents every day: Super ($100), as Cursor recommends.
- Run long agent sessions most of the day: Ultra ($200).
- Team with SSO and admin needs: Teams, with higher seats only for heavy users.
- Mostly use Claude models anyway: compare against a Claude subscription. Claude Code pricing includes Claude usage in a flat fee from $20/month, where Cursor bills Claude tokens on top of the plan.
Existing subscribers, switching and cancelling
If you had Pro, Pro+ or another legacy plan, it keeps working as before. xAI says existing subscribers can keep their current plan and price, or switch to The X Subscription with a prorated refund for the old plan when a switching offer appears in billing settings. xAI hasn't published a date for retiring legacy plans. To cancel, the pricing page says to cancel at least 24 hours before renewal to avoid another charge. Payment is by credit or debit card. Invoicing and wire transfer require Enterprise.
Cursor says subscriptions are sold only through its official site via X Subscription Corp. It warns that accounts bought from resellers or third parties may be suspended or terminated.
